Purchase of photovoltaic solar panels

Are photovoltaic panels viable?

Photovoltaic modules or Solar Panels are undoubtedly the sustainable energy solution for homes that provides the lowest operating costs. With the SEI/CER Micro generation program now ready for implementation, installing photovoltaic panels will be too difficult in the right location.

Photovoltaic cells have been around for centuries, but even now new technologies are being investigated. This is because the solar energy conversion efficiency of commercially available PV modules never exceeds 13-15% in actual use. However, the beauty of this is that every watt thus generated is free and renewable. About 80% of all photovoltaic modules manufactured for terrestrial applications are still of the first generation crystalline type.

Are all solar panels the same?

Certainly not! In the same way that many different materials are used, there are different details of performance that differ. Quality standards are another matter entirely. Unless you are at least familiar with basic electricity and its distribution in homes, it would be best to leave everything in the hands of a professional. But for those who are technically minded, here are some facts to evaluate when shopping for PV panels.

  • Quality standards
  • Like all other imported equipment in the US market photovoltaic Solar panels must also comply with CE, ISI, BS or EN corresponding to the article. ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 series quality management The series environmental management system etc. are the other relevant standards related to the manufacturing process and installation. You will need to ensure that the manufacturer’s standard certificates cover the model and year of manufacture of the unit you wish to purchase. (These terms must be renewed periodically).

In one evaluation, past performance and characteristic details will allow you to make an apple-to-apple comparison of the multitude of types and brands of solar modules currently available on the market. As stated above, if this is too technical, it is prudent to enlist the help of a solar panel specialist who (if all other avenues fail) is always available with suppliers and manufacturers’ agents. This technical evaluation should naturally precede any price evaluation to safeguard your valuable investment.
