If you are looking for Joshua Tree Camping or camping in a desert, I highly recommend this private equipment camp. This will be one of many isolated campgrounds I have been to in Joshua Tree and the site itself is just fantastic. I recommend an AWD or 4WG car as the road to get to the place is definitely very bumpy and unpaved (a normal vehicle should be fine as long as you take it easy and go slow) As soon as you arrive you will see the pergola will be quite large and now there are often several picnic furniture installed as well as a large barbecue and cooking variety. No trash available – pack it up. Good, personal urinals are usually provided and free drinking water is provided (be sure to refill – instructions would end up being offered)

There is a gas fire pit near the large rock array which makes for a great gathering spot at night. The stones at night provide a beautiful background next to the fire pit and during the day they are fun to climb and we spend a fair amount of time hanging out best traveling through the air on a kite (it will be quite windy there). Mustang Horse Ranch, Lake Hughes, CA

If you are looking for a campground with amazing sunsets and you like to hike some of the best hiking trails in California, this campground will meet or exceed your expectations. This will be like an ideal and perfect place to camp. It is a mix of deserts and hills with numerous trails for hiking, quad biking, and equestrianism. The website is definitely great and it is right in the center of the farm, close to the horses. You usually discover the racehorses just prancing happily and if you are lucky you can show off some perfect photos of the team with them in the story.

The host Daniela is wonderful and very friendly. The first time we stayed here was for a group of shock suggestions camping on my converted fiancee girlfriend’s trip. You can also find really clear toilets and a gas fire pit. In addition, drinking water can be obtained. Daniela offers guided RV tours on demand for an additional fee, but it is very enjoyable and well worth it. This will be a dog friendly campsite. Kirch Flat Campgrounds, Tollhouse, CA

By far my favorite group place to camp in Southern California within all the rankings. There is a combination of first-come, first-served camps here, as well as a lottery-received great-team camp. The trip takes about 5.5 hours from Orange County, but is relatively simple to the base of the hillside. If you are generally lucky enough to win the team camp, you arrive with a fairly quiet region towards the back of the campgrounds near the water along with multiple open fire bands and a large chimney band (I’m talking huge!)

There is ample space to park cars and put up tents and plenty of picnic tables for food and supplies. The landscapes around each path can change very significantly and can offer various background scenes and locations. There are so many frogs nearby that the audio makes a croaking squawk like you’re being evaluated by a cow (“hmm ?!” – you have to hear it to realize it) the first time we were here, we thought there. they had been cows in the open air of our tents. This will be a dog friendly camp and our group offers several canines who definitely like to be here. There is no air pollution from lighting and once again most of the sound will be muffled by the drinking water, so the team camp will be ideal if you have a noisy group like us.

There was a whitewater rafting company here most of the summer every year, but as a result of Covid, they have sadly closed for good. There are usually different places to go here to get some amazing landmarks and views. You can discover some trekking spots and many areas for angling. This is one of the many lovely camps I have already been to and the best part is that it is completely free. If you decided to choose just one place in Southern California to move to camping, the beauty of Kirch Flat Campgrounds would totally put you aside.
