Learn about American Bullies: the line of dogs that originated from the American Pit Bull

American Bullies are a new style of dog that originated from the American Pit Bull Terrier. These dogs have their own registry called ABKC. American Bullies are line bred by American Pit Bull Terriers for a specific appearance, temperament, and build. These dogs are shorter, broader, and have larger heads than the older lines of American Pit Bulls. The two main bloodlines that started American Bullies are greyline (California) and razors edge (Virginia). A bloodline is created by crossing two lines of dogs to create its own line.

This is done by inbreeding, line breeding, and crossbreeding when necessary. Some of the founding dogs that created American Bullies are Cairo, Throwin Knuckles, Shortshot, Buckshot, and Jewels. Those are all razor edge dogs and they are in almost every line of razor edge dogs you see today. Another line of American Bullies is the Greyline. These dogs were bred in Blue Star kennels. A couple of her founding dogs are Raider 2 and Brianna Blue Good. Blue Star kennels also bred Juan Gotty.

He is considered the most famous American Bully and is the founding dog of Gottyline. He has over 800 pups and is in almost every American Bully style pitbull pedigree you see today. He was owned by Richard Barajas and is still bred today through artificial insemination. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 15.
