Life Fitness 9500HR Elliptical Machine Review

Life Fitness produces some of the best heavy-duty fitness equipment in the world. Their elliptical machines deliver extreme results in minimal time and they have been able to use this to win the popularity vote with the largest commercial gyms and even the military as the best elliptical option.

You’ll find that Life Fitness 9500HR ellipticals tend to be marketed as ‘remanufactured,’ in part because newer versions have been released with newer features and specifications. However, due to the popularity of the 9500HR in the commercial market, remanufacturing of the model has occurred. Not only is the price lower, but it makes this quality model affordable for home use.

There are a few different versions of the 9500HR, so it’s imperative that you know what you’re getting for your money. Earlier models experienced glitches with the rear units and handgrip heart rate sensors, but this was due to high use in gyms etc. This review focuses on the latest rear-wheel drive model.

One important thing to note is that the stride length is approximately 18″, so for anyone over 6′ this may not be the ideal model for you. The dual operating handles and the Pedals allow forward and backward movement. This is ideal for targeting a wider variety of muscle groups, perfect for toning your entire body.

The Life Fitness 9500HR elliptical comes with all the usual features you’d expect from commercial ellipticals, and it’s surprisingly quiet. Just a few of the features listed include 9 pre-programmed courses for a full variety of exercises, 20 resistance levels, two-tier console with integrated reading rack/accessory tray, and the exclusive digital heart rate monitoring system. Life-pulse that allows users to calculate heartbeats that are almost as accurate as those of a clinical electrocardiograph.

The 9500HR, unlike many elliptical machines, is highly portable. These ellipticals incorporate rear wheels to facilitate their mobility and being self-propelled; no need to park near an outlet. This makes it easy to park your trainer in front of the TV…it makes working out that much more enjoyable!

Cons – Warranty

This model really cannot be faulted. There’s a lot to offer with the 9500HR. His growing popularity dictates this. The only drawback compared to other elliptical machines is the warranty. Having been remanufactured, the warranty coverage tends to be less than that of a newer model. You might be better off getting an extended warranty for less than $200 for 2 years, but other than that, the Life Fitness 9500HR elliptical is one of the best ellipticals on the market today.
