It may sound strange, but hiring an electric vehicle for rental can be beneficial for the environment. EV cars are becoming increasingly popular for a number of reasons, including their environmental benefits. Moreover, these vehicles are much cheaper than their petrol and diesel counterparts. Hertz, for example, offers rental cars with an EV-specific range. Hertz rents out Teslas at an hourly rate of around $100 a day. Nevertheless, EVs are not yet widely available in Canada, despite Hertz’s announcement in October that it would buy 100,000 Tesla Model 3 cars. However, if you’re interested in driving an EV for rent, there’s a Vancouver company called Zerocar. Zerocar rents out Tesla vehicles for as little as $169 per day, but they offer discounts if you rent for longer periods.

While EVs have not yet reached the volume of sales that were predicted by industry experts, it is important to note that these cars are not yet readily available on rental lots. The number of EVs available is likely to rise slowly, but more rental companies will make an effort to include them. While some EV car rental aggregator sites have EV-specific filters, most won’t have them. Therefore, it’s still important to seek out rental agencies that offer these vehicles.

Hire an EV Car Today For Rental

Some car rental companies offer a variety of electric vehicles, including Teslas and hybrids. Hertz recently expanded its offerings to twenty markets with the addition of the Tesla Prius Plug-In Hybrid. The company expects to have a fleet with 30 percent electric cars by 2024. Hertz is also planning to add the Chevrolet Volt and the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, and it’s in talks with Coda Automotive to offer a 2011 Sedan model. A Ford Transit Connect Electric car could also be added to the fleet later.

Before renting an EV for rental, be sure to research the charging infrastructure. The majority of electric vehicles are equipped with 120-Volt charging cables. But since large battery units can take up to 20 hours to recharge, finding a 240-Volt charging station can be difficult. As a result, it’s crucial to plan for long journeys, and have an adequate charger nearby. You should also research how much the rental company charges for an EV before you book it.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental are two large car rental companies that already offer thousands of EVs. The news of the EV rental program prompted shares of these companies to surge. In the fall, another major car rental company, Avis Budget Group, announced that it would expand its EV fleet. Enterprise declined to comment on the news, but a spokesperson for the company said that they were “evaluating the feasibility of the EV rental program” in the future.
