Cat Meow: Understanding Your Cat’s Behavior

When you see your meowing cats a lot and the tone is high, it does not mean that he is hungry and it does not mean that you have to get up and feed him. This will not only ruin your cat’s manners, but it will also make a cat think that meowing my human will feed me. This will only cause your cat to become obese and interrupt her feeding hours.

The meowing of cats means many things besides the demand for food. Your cat could meow due to various reasons, for example, it could be in trouble, it could be complaining of some pain, it could need medical attention, it could need to go to its litter boxes, it could be warning you, or it could just be wanting to talk to you or call your attention.

Let me give you an example here. In February 2011, after 11pm, I returned home after an hour of visiting my aunt. When I returned, my male blue Persian cat was very hyperactive, running around and meowing in a heavy voice. My first thought was that maybe he’s excited to see me after I’ve been away for an hour or maybe he needs food. I went to the kitchen and gave him his food on his plate and went back to my room and got to work on my computer. The meowing continued and this time my cat kept pulling on my shirt and literally dragged me towards the front door. However, I again ignored him and took him to his food plate where I saw that his food was intact. So, I reached into my cabinet and grabbed a bag of her favorite cat food. He even resisted that. After 2 minutes my cat just ran and crawled under my bed and that was the moment when I felt strong shaking from a 7.6 rectum earthquake. I grabbed my cat’s shoe and ran down the stairs. That was the moment I knew that my cat’s meow was actually a warning for me to get out of the house and find a safe place to save myself. However, no damage was done in my city.

After this incident, I discovered that a cat’s meow means much more than showing hunger or demands for food. If you are sick and tired of useless meowing and are bothered by this habit, then your cat can be well trained. When your cat is meowing, ignore it. Once they’re quiet and settled, feed them a treat. You need to make a schedule of your life where you can allocate a specific period of time in which you can play with your cat and spend quality time with him. Ignorance can also lead to excessive meowing. If you notice that your cat is meowing and not purring, it means there is something wrong with your cat or there is a warning.
