Parents, I really don’t think there is a single best way to raise our children. However, since I also believe that all parents want to raise our children to the best of their ability, it doesn’t hurt to take a look at a recent study of what some successful parents do.

Names that are easy to pronounce came up in the study. Why are our children’s names important? Hmm … I’m not sure about this one, but I can tell you this; I have five successful children and, coincidentally, I think all of their names are easy to pronounce. However, now that I think about it, people seem to screw up my oldest daughter’s name sometimes.

The parenting study also says that sharing household responsibilities by both mom and dad is extremely helpful in raising happy and successful children. When both parents – Mom and Dad – step in when they see something that needs to be done, whether it’s bringing in some extra cash, doing the dishes, dealing with the never-ending cycle of doing laundry, or even cleaning a child’s butt, in the family unit. seems to work better. And children, in the end, benefit from this kind of teamwork environment. However, I didn’t see my parents doing this kind of work-sharing thing at home.

The last tip says that teaching our kids math and guts early on is a good thing most successful parents do who raise happy, successful kids. I spent many years practicing math and determination, but ended up as a history and special education teacher. I hope that math and determination somehow contribute to the well-being and success of my own children.
